Over at the World Championship, I noticed Team USA forward Craig Smith was among the top 10 scorers with seven points in six games. This is a great boost for a player who managed just 12 in 44 with Nashville this past campaign.

How often do we see this? A player who is pretty steady at 38 points per season has a career year when his contract is about to expire. Pittsburgh winger Pascal Dupuis, now 34, has topped 40 points just twice in his career.
