PEORIA, Ill. - Mike Zigomanis set up three goals, including the winner, and Jussi Rynnas made 30 saves as the Toronto Marlies beat the Peoria Rivermen 6-3 in American Hockey League action Tuesday.

With the game tied 3-3 in the third period, Zigomanis set up Juraj Mikus on the game winner, then 12 seconds later assisted on Jeff Cowan's insurance goal. He also assisted on Brayden Irwin's power-play goal in the second period.

Marcel Mueller, Josh Engel and Christian Hanson, into an empty net, also scored for Toronto (16-12-4).

Anthony Nigro, Dave Spina and Nikita Nikitin replied for Peoria (20-8-3), which lost in regulation for the first time since Nov. 17, going 11-0-2 over that span.

Ben Bishop stopped 20 shots for the Rivermen.

Peoria opened the scoring 2:09 into the game. After a Marlies face-off win, Stefan Della Rovere rushed to grab the puck behind the net and fed Nigro, who scored in his fourth of the year and second in as many games.

Mueller tied the game 1-1 at 8:06 of the first period when his pass attempt banked in off the skate of Peoria defenceman Brennan Evans and past Bishop.

The Marlies took a 2-1 lead when Engel created a turnover and went in on a breakaway, beating Bishop for his sixth of the year.

The Rivermen tied the game at two with 17.7 seconds left in the first on their first short-handed goal of the year. Spina stripped Danny Richmond at the Rivermen blue-line and went in all alone on Rynnas to score his fourth of the season.

The Marlies regained the lead at 12:56 of the second period on a power-play goal from Irwin. Zigomanis's shot from the right point was tipped by Irwin past the right pad of Bishop.

Nikitin tied the game, 3-3, on a 5-on-3 power-play at 3:31 of the third period. TJ Hensick and Phil McRae set up Nikitin for a one-timer from the top of the left circle.

The Marlies regained the lead for good when Zigomanis set up Mikus and Cowan, who scored his first of the year.

The game had 82 minutes in penalties. Peoria had a season-high nine power-play opportunities and converted once while the Marlies finished 1-for-5.
