Yet more evidence that you should never fight Zdeno Chara

The behemoth Boston Bruins captain dropped Tampa Bay's Cedric Paquette like a bad habit last night. Paquette was rushing to a teammate's honor, but maybe he should have thought about context first.

If you have watched hockey consistently for the past 15 years or so, it should be perfectly clear to you that fighting massive Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara is the worst idea in the world. Few brawlers can claim a draw with the B's captain, let alone a win – and Tampa Bay's Cedric Paquette found that out the hard way last night.

Chara, all 6-foot-9 and 255 pounds of him, had just boarded Lightning defenseman Matt Carle (who popped up right away) and Paquette took exception. Just enough exception, in fact, to provoke a gloved punch from Chara – one with enough force to knock Paquette to the ice:

Amazingly, Paquette even went back for more at the end of the game.

Chara is usually pretty judicious with his violence, knowing that he is more valuable to the Bruins on the ice than he is in the penalty box. But tick him off and there will be wrath to face. Paquette found that out the hard way last night.
