HAMILTON - Defenceman Yannick Weber had two goals in the Hamilton Bulldogs' 5-2 win over the Rochester Americans on Tuesday in the AHL.

Hamilton (2-1-0) got on the scoreboard first with a power-play goal at 11:00 of the first period when Ben Maxwell dished the puck to Weber, who blasted a shot that beat Rochester goaltender Jacob Markstrom glove side.

Hamilton took a 2-0 lead at 18:06 as Alexander Avtsin took a pass in the slot and tapped the puck in.

Mathieu Carle put Hamilton up 3-0 at 4:35 of the second when he one-timed a shot over Markstrom's blocker.

Rochester (3-3-0) got on the board midway through the final frame. Scott Timmins grabbed a loose rebound and dished it across the front of the net to Kenndal McArdle who fired it past a sprawled Mayer.

Andrew Conboy and Weber scored in the third period before the Amerks got one back with less than two minutes to play, courtesy of Michael Duco's third of the season.

Markstrom finished with 27 saves on 32 shots while Robert Mayer stopped 23 shots for the Bulldogs.

The Americans all wore the No. 5 on their helmets in tribute to former Rochester player Craig Charron. The Americans Hall of Famer died on Tuesday after a year-long battle with lung cancer. He was 42.
