Woywitka's goal late in second period lifts Peoria to 4-2 win over Manitoba

WINNIPEG - Jeff Woywitka's goal late in the second period stood as the game winner Thursday night, lifting the red-hot Peoria Rivermen to a 4-2 victory over the Manitoba Moose in American Hockey League action.

Hannu Toivonen preserved the victory with a 24-save performance as the Rivermen (23-11-4-3) won its season-high eighth consecutive game. Nikolay Lemtyugov opened the scoring five minutes into the game, Julian Talbot had a second-period power-play goal and Yan Stastny added an insurance goal with six seconds left in regulation for Peoria.

Jason Jaffray and Maxime Fortunus had a goal and an assist apiece in a losing cause for the Moose (21-17-2-1), who have dropped five straight. Manitoba has been outscored 18-8 over that span.

Drew McIntyre stopped 18 shots in defeat for the Moose, who were 0-for-3 with the man advantage. Peoria finished 1-for-2 on the power play.
