SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Duvie Westcott's goal 3:58 into overtime gave the Syracuse Crunch a much-needed 2-1 win over the Toronto Marlies on Friday night in the American Hockey League.

Westcott beat Marlies goaltender Justin Pogge for his first goal in 18 AHL games this season as the Crunch (28-26-2-5) extended their points streak to four games. The win moves Syracuse to within four points of eighth place in the crowded Western Conference standings.

Derek Dorset added a first-period goal while Karl Goehring preserved the win with a 32-save performance for the Chiefs.

Peter Tsimikalis' first goal of the year provided the lone offence for Toronto (27-14-2-4), which lost its second straight but still extended its lead over Manitoba to 12 points in the North Division.

Pogge stopped 30 shots in defeat.
