PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Recent call-up Shawn Weller scored twice, including the game-winner as the Abbotsford Heat defeated the Providence Bruins 5-2 Sunday afternoon in the American Hockey League.

With points in four straight games, Weller is finding his stride after being promoted from the ECHL's Bakersfield Condors on Feb. 1. He scored midway through the game to put the Heat up 2-1 and added another early in the third for a 3-2 lead.

Riley Armstrong stretched the lead to two less than a minute later, while Mikael Backlund opened the scoring for Abbotsford (28-24-8), which has won two straight and seven of its last 10. Brett Sutter had two assists and added an empty-netter.

Trent Whitfield and Jeff Penner scored for the Bruins (28-27-3).

David Shantz made 41 saves for the Heat, while Providence netminder Dany Sabourin stopped 31 shots.
