Sidney Crosby doesn’t have the beard, the suit or the reindeer, but he pulled his best Santa Claus impression by making a little girl’s night with a post-game gift.

The holidays can be about giving gifts and making lasting memories, so leave it to Sidney Crosby to accomplish both happen with one heads-up play.

Following the Penguins’ romp of the New York Rangers on Tuesday in Pittsburgh, Crosby was heading off the ice and down the tunnel after celebrating with his teammates when he spied a young girl sitting next to the Pittsburgh bench. The girl, sporting pigtails and a No. 87 jersey, draped a sign over the railing as the Penguins’ captain exited the ice.

It was then that Crosby proved that his uncanny on-ice vision also applies when he’s off the ice, too. As he walked by, the young girl’s sign — which appears to read ‘Sid, can I have your stick please?’ — caught his eye. He did a double-take, turned back and handed off his stick to his little fan:

Add this to the ever-growing list of why Crosby is one of the game’s most beloved players.

That’s not just any stick the girl received, either. There was some magic in that stick Tuesday night, as Crosby tipped home a fantastic goal mere minutes into the first frame and assisted on a third-period tally by Bryan Rust.

With the two-point night, Crosby moved into sole possession of fourth place in the NHL in scoring and maintained his insane points per game rate of 1.33. The early goal also put Crosby up to 22 on the year, the most in the league, which is absurd considering he has only suited up in 27 games this season.
