Calgary Flames netminder Karri Ramo made a spectacular glove stop to steal a goal from Boston Bruins winger Brett Connolly, who was set up following an incredible move by Brad Marchand. The Flames netminder would come out on top in a wild contest.

Friday night’s game between the Calgary Flames and Boston Bruins had just about everything fans could ask for. The contest was back and forth, saw a penalty shot tally and a literal last-second game-tying goal. But maybe the biggest highlight came in the second frame, when Flames netminder Karri Ramo robbed Bruins winger Brett Connolly.

However, the save would have never come to be if it weren’t for an incredible move by Boston winger Brad Marchand. Coming down the left wing and defended by Flames blueliner Derek Engelland, Marchand pulled off a slick outside-inside move that undressed Engelland.

After slipping Engelland, Marchand laid a pass over to Connolly, who looked to have Ramo beat. That is until Ramo stuck out his glove and stole what would have been the go-ahead goal from Connolly:

The glove stop was one of 34 saves Ramo made on the night as he outplayed both Bruins netminders, Jonas Gustavsson and Tuukka Rask.

Ramo’s play has improved, if even just by the slightest amount, since his demotion to the AHL earlier in the season and subsequent recall from the Stockton Heat. Flames coach Bob Hartley gave Ramo the lion’s share of the starts during the injury to Jonas Hiller, and upon Hiller’s return, Ramo has started three of four games.

On the season, Ramo has a 3.06 goals-against average and .898 save percentage to go along with his 8-8-1 record in 17 games.
