QMJHL netminder Francois Brassard set a league record on Saturday night by scoring his second goal of the season. Brassard went long range for his second marker, too, taking the attempt from behind his own net.

From a goaltending perspective, Gatineau Olympiques netminder Francois Brassard hasn’t been having the best season of his career. On the stat sheet, however, he’s setting records.

The 21-year-old goaltender scored his second goal – yes, you’re reading that right – of the season Saturday night against the Saint John Sea Dogs. His first came back on Dec. 13 against the Quebec Remparts while Brassard was a member of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. Check out the goal below, courtesy of Buzzing The Net’s Neate Sager:

Thanks to the goal, Brassard now sits in a tie for 282nd on the QMJHL’s goal scoring list, ranking ahead of more than 200 players that have suited up in the league this season.

After he scores his second tally of the year, it almost looks like he got down into a prone position with his stick held like a sniper rifle. (Coming to theaters this summer, Francois Brassard is… Quebec League Sniper.)

Brassard was a sixth-round selection of the Ottawa Senators in 2012, 166th overall, but was never signed to a contract by the club. He reentered the draft in 2014, but was not selected and has since been invited to Buffalo Sabres training camp. However, Brassard failed to land a contract with the Sabres.
