The 20-year-old scored in record time on Saturday night helping the Colorado Avalanche take a 3-0 lead after one period in Montreal.
Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan McKinnon had his four-game point streak snapped in Thursday’s win over the Boston Bruins.
He made up for it on Saturday night scoring twice in record time.
The 20-year-old scored a pair of goals in 13 seconds at the Bell Centre in Montreal to give the Avs a 3-0 lead late in the first period.
With the goal, MacKinnon became the first member of the Avalanche to score twice in 13 seconds or faster since Milan Hejduk on Jan. 18, 2001, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
Blake Comeau gave Colorado a 4-1 lead in the second period. The goal marks the first time in his young NHL career that Habs goaltender Mike Condon has allowed more than three goals in a single game.
