Evgenii Dadonov is putting together one of the most memorable post-seasons in hockey history in the KHL. In 18 games, Dadonov has scored 18 points, including 13 goals, three of which were game-winning markers. He saved the most impressive goal for the Gagarin Cup final, however.

Evgenii Dadonov has been near unstoppable in the post-season for the KHL’s SKA St. Petersburg, but things are getting unfair at this point.

In the first game of the Gagarin Cup final, the KHL’s league championship series, Dadonov took a pass in the neutral zone and skated up ice on a partial 2-on-1 break. With Vadim Shipachyov driving the net, Dadonov took it upon himself to make Ak Bars Kazan defender Vladimir Denisov look like a recreation league defenseman before sneaking the puck past a reaching Anders Nilsson:

The tally was Dadonov’s 13th of the post-season, which puts him one back of Mikhail Anisin for the all-time record for goals scored in a single playoffs. It’s fitting, too, that in a season in which Steve Moses – who recently signed a one-year deal with the Nashville Predators for next season – broke the single-season goal-scoring record, another sniper would follow suit and set a new mark in the post-season.

Dadonov, 26, was selected 71st overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2007 draft, but played only 55 games in the league, scoring 10 goals and 20 points. For the better part of his three seasons in North America, Dadonov suited up in the AHL, playing two seasons with the Rochester Americans and splitting his third year between the San Antonio Rampage and Charlotte Checkers. In 155 AHL games, Dadonov scored 33 goals and 84 points.

The goal by Dadonov put St. Petersburg up 3-0 over Kazan, and SKA hung on for a 4-2 victory. St. Petersburg leads the Gagarin Cup final 1-0 with the second game of the series slated for Monday evening.
