On Thursday night, Jagr added to his list of career achievements by notching point No. 1,850 to tie Gordie Howe for third place all time.

If Jaromir Jagr decided he wanted to hang up his skates after this season, he's going out in style, and as an all-time great.

On Thursday night, Jagr added to his list of career achievements by notching point No. 1,850 to tie Gordie Howe for third place all time. The milestone point came on a first-period assist on a goal by Panthers teammate Erik Gudbranson against the Avalanche.

Jagr has plenty of time left this season to pass Howe and take sole possession of third. But if he wants to get to No. 2 on the list, he'll very likely need to return next year for an age-45 season. Jagr is 37 points point behind Mark Messier for No. 2 -- and only 1,007 behind Wayne Gretzky for No. 1.

Thursday's milestone was just the latest for Jagr this season. Back in December he passed Marcel Dionne for fourth on the goal-scoring list. In February, he went up another notch when he passed Brett Hull for third. In all, he cemented himself as the greatest 40-plus NHLer in history.

On top of all that, there's the great What If questions with Jagr's career. What if the NHL didn't lock him out for one full season, and two half seasons, in his prime? What if he had not left for three seasons to play in Europe?

We'll never know what his career totals would look like, but it's fun to imagine even loftier totals for the future Hall of Famer.
