St. Louis Blues sniper Vladimir Tarasenko scored with a laser of a wrist shot Thursday night. From the top of the left wing circle, Tarasenko put a perfectly placed snipe off the post and in behind New York Rangers netminder Henrik Lundqvist.

St. Louis’ super sniper Vladimir Tarasenko signed an eight-year, $60-million contract in the off-season, and if ever you find yourself wondering what made the Blues right winger so valuable, just take a look at this video.

In Thursday’s tilt between the Blues and New York Rangers, St. Louis found themselves down by two goals heading into the second frame. But when Tarasenko has the puck on his stick, he can make things happen from just about anywhere on the ice. Case in point, Tarasenko picked up a pass that was mishandled by New York’s Viktor Stalberg, came streaking down the ice and ripped a wrist shot from the top of the left wing circle that no goaltender on earth, including Henrik Lundqvist, could have stopped:

There’s not a single thing not to love about Tarasenko’s shot. The release is beautiful, he perfectly picks his spot and the sound it makes when it rattles off the post and in is awesome.

The tally gave Tarasenko eight on the year and his 14th point in 15 outings this season. In 2014-15, Tarasenko set a career-high with 37 goals and 73 points. He’s on a good pace to best that this season, as with his goal Thursday, Tarasenko has the 40-goal plateau in his sights. A few big games and he could be celebrating that milestone by season’s end.

Since Tarasenko’s breakout year in 2013-14 — he had 21 goals and 43 points in 66 games while playing second- and third-line minutes — there haven’t been many goal scorers as prolific. His 66 goals since the beginning of the 2013-14 season put him in a tie for 13th in the league with Sidney Crosby and Jarome Iginla.
