When the Toronto Maple Leafs acquired Dion Phaneuf from the Calgary Flames in February they were hoping the Edmonton-born defender would bring two things to the team, a booming shot from the point and leadership.
While Phaneuf has yet to recapture his scoring prowess since his arrival – he has just two goals and 10 points in 26 games with the Buds – the 25-year-old has demonstrated he is a born leader on and off the ice.
John Grigg caught up with Phaneuf to see how the young defender is settling into Hogtown.
