Few may remember Matt Carle’s first stint with the Tampa Bay Lightning and you would have to forgive them. In the summer of 2008, the San Jose Sharks traded Carle, Ty Wishart and two picks, to the Lightning for Dan Boyle and Brad Lukowich. But just 12 games into the 2008-09 season the Alaska native was on the move once again.
Carle and a pick were shipped to Philadelphia for Steve Eminger, Steve Downie and a pick. Despite his short stay with the Lightning, Carle must have enjoyed something about his time in Florida because when he became an unrestricted free agent last summer he wasted little time before signing a six-year deal with Tampa Bay.
THN’s Adam Proteau sat down with 28-year-old defenseman to discuss adjusting to his new team, the compact season and more.
