Two years ago, Boston goalie Tim Thomas broke onto the scene by winning the Vezina Trophy. An unlikely candidate at the beginning of that season, Thomas posted a 2.10 GAA, .933 SP and a 36-11-7 record to take home the award.
The following season wasn’t so memorable, though, as Thomas’ numbers dipped and youngster Tuukka Rask assumed No. 1 duties into the post-season. However, once again Thomas is surprising everyone by leading the league in SP and GAA as he regained a hold on the top job in Boston and is easily favored to win his second Vezina in two seasons.
In the April 4th 2011 issue of The Hockey News, Ken Campbell takes an in-depth look at Thomas’ bounce back season for the Bruins and THNTV was there when he caught up with Thomas in Montreal.
In part one of the three part interview Thomas discusses his battle with injury last season and feeling healthy this year. Part 2 can be found here and Part 3 can be found here.
