When the Buffalo Sabres drafted Ryan Miller in the fifth round of the 1999 draft they couldn’t have imagined they were getting the future backbone of their franchise.
Fast-forward 10 years and the native of East Lansing, Mich., is not only the Sabres MVP, but has also established himself as one of the premier goaltenders in the world. This season Miller leads the league in goals-against average, save percentage and is tied for the lead in shutouts with four. And with his dominant play the 29-year-old has likely earned the starting position for the United States at the Vancouver Olympics.
While Miller is excited about the opportunity he hasn’t let his Olympic aspirations distract him from the task at hand, helping the Sabres get back to the Stanley Cup playoffs. Ryan Dixon takes in-depth look at Ryan Miller.
