Last season New Jersey Devils left winger Zach Parise exploded for 45 goals and 94 points in 82 games. He had already demonstrated he could score on a consistent basis in his first three seasons in the league, but now opponents fully realize stopping the Minnesota native takes a team effort.

Even with the increased checking, Parise has managed to accumulate 58 points in 58 games this season, 26 of which are goals. But the addition of Ilya Kovalchuk means teams will no longer be able to focus solely on shutting down Parise and his linemates. This should provide more space for the left winger to work his magic.

Parise also hopes he has a few tricks up his sleeve when he suits up for Team USA at the Winter Games in Vancouver. Parise has played for the USA at every level, but this will be his first taste of Olympic competition. And he hopes to create another golden memory like he did at the 2004 World Junior Championship. Ted Cooper takes a closer look at the American sniper.
