PITTSBURGH - Tyler Kennedy has been recalled by the Pittsburgh Penguins after a brief conditioning stint in the minors following a bout with mononucleosis.
The 21-year-old forward from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., missed eight NHL games from Jan. 19 to Feb. 7 due to the illness and resumed playing last week with the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton entry.
Kennedy was first called up by the Penguins last Oct. 27 and made his NHL debut that night. He scored his first NHL goal on Nov.3. He is tied for the lead among NHL rookies with four winning goals, and was originally selected by the Penguins in the fourth round (99th overall) in the 2004 entry draft.
