The Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup in the biggest NHL news story of the week.
But a few other things happened, too, from a 'Boots' who cried bankruptcy to a championship chili incident.
Suffice to say, it hasn't been a typical week in the world of hockey; here's a look at the news with some atypical views:
News: Stanley Cup is slightly dented during Red Wings get-together at Cheli's Chili Bar.
Views: Upset that he didn't dress in the final, Chris Chelios chucked the Cup at Mike Babcock and called the Detroit coach a "dang hippy" and "Penguins sympathizer."
News: A page on nhl.com advertises 'Alex Ovechkin Hart Trophy Winner 2007-08' t-shirts a week before the NHL Awards show.
Views: Not sure which is less surprising – that Ovechkin is the NHL MVP or that the league managed to scoop itself.
News: CBC announces it plans to replace the theme song to Hockey Night in Canada.
Views: Yeah, well, nobody knew the words anyway, so surely nobody will miss it…
News: Ducks GM Brian Burke is named president-GM of 2010 U.S. Olympic team.
Views: Burke's first question: "Can I do the job from Toronto?"
News: Red Wings hold Stanley Cup parade in downtown Detroit.
Views: Unfortunately, Kris Draper couldn’t make it. He was too busy shadowing Sidney Crosby around Cole Harbour, N.S.
News: William Del Biaggio III, who owns a piece of the Nashville Predators and goes by the nickname 'Boots' files for bankruptcy a few weeks after being accused of loan fraud.
Views: So that's why the NHL keeps turning down Jim Balsillie's ownership bids: He's got too much money and isn't corrupt enough.
News: 20-year veteran Glen Wesley and 12-year man Sami Kapanen call it quits.
Views: Two old Whalers finally succumb to the harpoon of retirement.
News: Tampa Bay fires coach John Tortorella.
Views: Despite the fact John Grahame hasn't played for the Bolts since 2006, Tortorella still found a way to blame his firing on the backup goalie. "One more save," Tortorella fumed. "If Johnny could've made one more save, we wouldn't be in this position…Johnny tried, but I needed a bloody save."
News: Maple Leafs reportedly offer coaching job to Ron Wilson.
Views: Wilson reportedly offers "good luck with all that" to Maple Leafs.
News: Edmonton trades defenseman Danny Syvret to Philadelphia in exchange for center Ryan Potulny.
Views: Yet another chapter in the intense Syvret-Potulny rivalry…
