The trapezoid trap

Ken Campbell's column in the Feb. 22 edition regarding the trapezoid confuses me.

In part he talks about how few gaffs and "scoring chances" are generated from goalies freely being able to play the puck, but then still wants it removed.

He says in the post-lockout era the changes made to the game allow for more chances so the trapezoid isn't necessary, but doesn't it stand to reason that this is one of the changes that have made the game more offensive, if only a little bit?

I'm not a fan of the trapezoid, either; no one pays hundreds of dollars to watch the goalie fire the puck out of his end.

If anything they shouldn't be able to play it at all and if they do they should be treated like any other player and be hit with impunity.
