Players News...

Ilya Bryzgalov, G, Phoenix Coyotes
2008/11/30: Phoenix netminder
Ilya Bryzgalov allowed two goals on the first two shots he faced Saturday and was yanked just at just 5:26 in. Mikael Tellqvist replaced him, stopping 20 of 21 shots in the Coyotes' 3-2 home loss to San Jose. Bryzgalov has allowed at least two goals in eight straight appearances and has lost five straight (including one shootout loss). Tellqvist, who boasts a .940 save percentage and 2.03 GAA in six appearanaces, is pushing him lately for playing time.

Lubomir Visnovsky, D, Edmonton Oilers
2008/11/30: The Oilers lost key defenseman
Lubomir Visnovsky during Saturday afternoon's 4-2 win at St. Louis. He was hit by Blues' forward David Backes in the second period and went head-first into the boards. He did not return, though he did skate off the ice. No penalty was called on the hit. Edmonton head coach Craig MacTavish told the Edmonton Journal Visnovsky "tried to talk the medical staff into" returning for the third period, but "was still rattled." No word yet on his availability for Sunday evening's game at Dallas.

Cory Schneider, G, Vancouver Canucks
2008/11/30: Making his NHL debut Saturday in Calgary, Canucks goaltender
Cory Schneider was tested 31 times by the Flames and looked solid, allowing three goals, but took the 3-1 loss. Schneider was dominating the AHL before getting called up to back up Curtis Sanford after franchise goalie Roberto Luongo went down with a groin injury. Sanford has started two of the three games filling in for Luongo, so may be back in net Monday at Columbus.

Yann Danis, G, New York Islanders
2008/11/30: Goaltender
Yann Danis is back up with the Islanders after just over a week back in the AHL. Rookie backup Peter Mannino was sent back to Bridgeport to make room for Danis. Danis will back up starter Joey MacDonald, and may get a bigger-than-usual workload with MacDonald somewhat struggling lately (having given up three or more goals in four of his past six outings).

Garth Murray, W/C, Phoenix Coyotes
2008/11/30: After sitting out four games, forward
Garth Murray has been sent back to San Antonio of the AHL. He was without a point in eight games with the Coyotes.

Matt Smaby, D, Tampa Bay Lightning
2008/11/30: Rookie defenseman
Matt Smaby did not dress for his only eligible game since being called up, and was sent back down to Norfolk of the AHL on Saturday.
