Player News…

Andrew Hutchinson, D, Dallas Stars
2008/12/01: Tampa Bay has dealt defenseman Andrew Hutchinson to the Dallas Stars in exchange for winger Lauri Tukonen. Hutchinson, 28, was the American League's Outstanding Defenseman in 2007-08, while Tukonen, selected No.11 overall in the 2004 NHL Draft, is enjoying a strong season with Lukko Rauma of the Finnish Elite League.

Brian Boyle, C, Los Angeles Kings
2008/12/01: The Kings have sent hulking center Brian Boyle to Manchester of the AHL after 14 games with the big club. Boyle scored just one goal with the Kings this season and posted a minus-7 rating in limited ice time. Despite his slow start, Boyle has a lot of talent (as evidenced by him being selected in the first round of the 2003 NHL Draft, No.26 overall). Expect a return once he shores up his defensive game.

Jonas Hiller, G, Anaheim Ducks
2008/12/01: Anaheim Ducks goalie Jonas Hiller kicked away 36 of 37 shots in a 4-1 triumph over the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday. Hiller has only allowed two goals during a span of three consecutive victories, which have boosted his record to 6-1-1 on the season.

Matt Cullen, C, Carolina Hurricanes
2008/12/01: Carolina pivot Matt Cullen scored the lone goal for the Hurricanes in a 4-1 defeat against Anaheim on Sunday. Linemates Patrick Eaves and Ryan Bayda assisted on the play. Cullen has been very productive of late, with five points in five games.

Rob Niedermayer, RW, Anaheim Ducks
2008/12/01: Anaheim Ducks winger Rob Niedermayer scored two goals in Sunday's 4-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. The defensive specialist has seven points on the year, but sports a disappointing minus-1 rating as well.

Teemu Selanne, RW, Anaheim Ducks
2008/12/01: Anaheim veteran winger Teemu Selanne made another stride towards Tim Kerr's record for power play goals in a 4-1 win over Carolina on Sunday. The 'Finnish Flash' lit the lamp with a man-advantage in the second period, giving him 12 PPG on the year. Selanne is on pace for 32 power play goals, two short of Kerr's 34.

Injury News…

Sergei Zubov, D, Dallas Stars
2008/12/01: Superstar Dallas defenseman Sergei Zubov will miss the next week due to a lower body injury, according to the Dallas Morning News. He appeared to aggravate a groin injury in last Monday's game at Philadelphia. Zubov missed the first 12 games of the regular season due to the groin problem. The Stars on Sunday traded prospect Lauri Tukonen for Andrew Hutchinson, last year's AHL Outstanding Defenseman. The Morning News says Hutchinson will be available for Tuesday's game at Calgary.

Cam Ward, G, Carolina Hurricanes
2008/12/01: Carolina netminder Cam Ward left Sunday's 4-1 home loss to Anaheim with a lower body injury after the first period. Backup Michael Leighton finished the game, allowing three goals on 14 shots. Head coach Peter Laviolette told the News & Observer of Ward's injury, "Hopefully, it's nothing that's long term." Leighton hasn't been stellar so far this season but was the winner of the AHL's Best Goaltender award last season, so he is one to watch as long as Ward is limited.

Lubomir Visnovsky, D, Edmonton Oilers
2008/11/30: The Oilers lost key defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky during Saturday afternoon's 4-2 win at St. Louis. He was hit by Blues' forward David Backes in the second period and went head-first into the boards. He did not return, though he did skate off the ice. No penalty was called on the hit. Edmonton head coach Craig MacTavish told the Edmonton Journal Visnovsky "tried to talk the medical staff into" returning for the third period, but "was still rattled." No word yet on his availability for Sunday evening's game at Dallas.

Adam Foote, D, Colorado Avalanche
2008/11/30: Avalanche defenseman Adam Foote has been placed on Injured Reserve with back and knee injuries, resulting from a check from behind last week. Rookie blueliner Aaron MacKenzie was called up from Lake Erie of the AHL to take his roster spot, but did not play in Saturday's 4-3 home win over Tampa Bay. Daniel Tjarnqvist returned from a foot injury four games ago, just in time to fill in for Foote (who was injured the game before).

Aaron Ward, D, Boston Bruins
2008/11/29: Veteran Boston defenseman Aaron Ward suffered an apparent leg injury in Saturday's victory over the Red Wings. He left the game in the first period and didn't return. There is no word yet on the extent of the injury and how long Ward may be out. The Boston Herald reports that an absence by Ward will either mean Matt Lashoff will be called up from the AHL or GM Peter Chiarelli will trade for another rearguard.

Steve Bernier, RW, Vancouver Canucks
2008/11/29: Vancouver Canucks winger Steve Bernier is expected to return to action on Saturday against Calgary. Bernier missed the first game of the home-and-home series versus the Flames due to a shoulder problem.

Vernon Fiddler, W/C, Nashville Predators
2008/11/29: Nashville Predators forward Vernon Fiddler returned to action on Friday night against Atlanta after missing one game due to illness. He replaced Rich Peverley (healthy scratch).
