The class act Calgary Flames

I really need to share two stories about the Calgary Flames to let the world know what a class act this organization is.

Two years ago I e-mailed Ken King trying to see if I could get into the Flames practice at Joe Louis Arena; I live in Windsor.  Peter Hanlon from the Flames called me the night before the game, telling me I could meet up with him when the bus got there and he would get me a media pass for the game.

Once we got in, there was one person sitting in an empty Joe Louis Arena: Darryl Sutter.  He was incredibly nice, we had a long talk and he let me take a picture with him.

Recently, I have booked a trip to Calgary in February.  Flames tickets are impossible to get, they were only available in packs.  I decided to take a shot in the dark and send Mr. King and Mr. Hanlon another letter, trying to get tickets for the Feb. 9 Hockey Night in Canada game vs the Oilers.

Pretty big game right? Low and behold not even two days later I receive a letter from the manager of ticketing saying that she received a letter from Mr. Ken King himself offering me four tickets to that game.  This is all from a team that does not need to market itself for fan support.  They could have easily brushed me off, which I believe many other teams would do to their fans.

Could you please print this letter so other fans can see that hockey is not just big business, but some teams actually do care about their fans.

Wes Dominique, Windsor, Ont.
