TAMPA, Fla. - Mattias Ohlund is leaving the only NHL home he's ever had.

The 32-year-old defenceman has signed a US$26.25-million, seven-year contract with the Tampa Lightning.

Ohlund spent the first 11 years of his career with the Vancouver Canucks, who drafted him 13th overall in 1994.

He's compiled 325 points (93-232) in 770 career games.

Ohlund was one of the most sought-after defencemen available through unrestricted free agency.

The Lightning have significantly bolstered their blue-line. To go with Ohlund and recent addition Victor Hedman, who was drafted second overall last weekend, Tampa Bay also signed Wednesday defenceman Matt Walker away from the Chicago Blackhawks and re-signed defenceman Lukas Krajicek.

Walker played in 65 games for the Blackhawks last season, when he had one goal and a career-high 13 assists. Krajicek, who signed a one-year deal, had two goals and 19 points last season with the Lightning.
