Talbot headed to KHL, signs one-year deal with Lokomotiv

The 32-year-old forward split this past season with the Boston Bruins and their AHL affiliate in Providence. His five-year, $9 million contract was set to expire in July making him an unrestricted free agent.

Max Talbot is headed overseas after signing with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the KHL. It’s a one-year deal for the 2016-17 season, Talbot’s agent Derek McCann confirmed to THN.

Talbot was set to become an unrestricted free agent with his five-year, $9 million contract expiring in July.

The 32-year-old forward split this past season with the Boston Bruins and their AHL affiliate in Providence. Talbot dressed in 38 games with the NHL club scoring two goals and five assists. He added 10 goals and 11 assists in 26 games with Providence.

Originally an eighth-round pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Talbot has appeared in 704 NHL games with the Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers, Colorado Avalanche and Bruins. The Lemoyne, Que. native won a Stanley Cup with Pittsburgh in 2009.
