HBO 24/7 is no longer, but Epix has you covered for all your Winter Classic behind the scenes action. Take a look at the first scenes from the brand new 'Road to the Winter Classic'Once word came that HBO would be abandoning 24/7, it didn’t take long for the NHL to find another suitor. And now we get to see what Epix can do. The American network swooped in, swung a deal with the league, and got the rights to get behind the scenes, just like HBO had done in years prior. With the Washington Capitals back for their second appearance on the pre-Winter Classic show, the Chicago Blackhawks are getting their first go-round at the series. This trailer is our first look at what Epix has planned for ‘Road to the Winter Classic’: Like previous seasons of the series, Canadian viewers can watch the show – minus the expletives – on Sportsnet. The series will premier on Tuesday, Dec. 16, and run each Tuesday for four weeks, with the finale showing on Jan. 6, five days after the Winter Classic. We do have a few questions, though. Namely, does Mike Green’s scooter make another appearance? It was arguably the star of the episode it showed up in back in 2010. Here’s hoping it’s back this time around. During each season of the series, there has been a breakout star. Obviously, then-Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov stole the show in 2012, while Maple Leafs coach Randy Carlyle and his tiff with the team toaster was the moment of the 2014 shows. While the early favorite has to be someone like Patrick Kane, if Corey Crawford’s antics at the Stanley Cup parade in 2013 are any indication, he could be seeing an up-tick in jersey sales.
