Following a victory in their Pride Night game, SHL goaltender Julius Hudacek and some of his Orebro teammates took to the ice to perform the YMCA. The team wore rainbow jerseys for the event in support of equal rights.

Things are never dull for Orebro of the SHL, especially not with Julius Hudacek in goal.

Following Saturday’s 4-2 victory over Frolunda, the always-eccentric Hudacek took to the ice for another of his signature celebrations, this time with some teammates in tow. Together, the six teammates busted out their favorite dance moves along to the 1970s disco group The Village People, the YMCA.

It doesn’t seem awfully likely that Hudacek ever ends up in the NHL, but he’s certainly making us all enjoy the game just that much more with his post-victory antics.

The celebration came as part of the post-game celebration following Orebro’s Pride Night, hence the rainbow jerseys the team is wearing. Before the game, the entire team – staff and players – participated in the Pride parade. In addition, throughout the evening, the team recognized the importance of equal rights. Fans were also encouraged to wear rainbow ribbons.

Even if the celebration was a bit of fun, Orebro made it clear they’re serious about equal rights. “Pride game is more than just a game, more than just a stunt,” says their website. Hats off to Orebro – and Hudacek – for their performance on and off the ice.
