Sullivan took J.P. Dumont's pass through the neutral zone and broke in behind Vancouver defenceman Mattias Ohlund. Roberto Luongo made the initial save but Sullivan was able to lift his own rebound over the prone goalie.
Alexander Radulov and Ryan Suter staked the Predators to an early 2-0 lead with goals two minutes 38 seconds apart in the first period.
Ohlund and Markus Naslund scored for Vancouver.
The Predators got a chance to stifle the Canucks early with their close checking when Radulov's shot deflected into the net off Ohlund.
Suter added the second goal on the power play and Nashville nursed the lead until late in the second period.
Ohlund got a measure of revenge when his power-play shot off a defender drew Vancouver to within a goal during the second period.
Naslund tied the game with less than 12 minutes remaining when Sami Salo's shot was stopped by Nashville goalie Tomas Vokoun but the rebound went in off the Vancouver captain.
The goal was reviewed because Canuck forward Jan Bulis made contact with Vokoun on the play but he was pushed into the crease by Predator defenceman Marek Zidlicky.
The Predators, who lost 4-3 in overtime to Vancouver on Oct. 21, won for the seventh time in eight games to improve to 7-3-1.
Vancouver, which had won four of its last five starts, dropped to 7-5-1.
The Predators gave the Canucks little skating room and Luongo had to be sharp on a second-period glove save on Predator Vernon Fiddler but Suter hit the post during the last of five straight Nashville power plays.
Luongo made another sparkling glove grab of a Sullivan shot when Kevin Bieksa turned the puck over in the Canuck zone on a Vancouver power play.
Radulov counted at 5:33 on the first shot of the game when Ohlund accidentally deflected the puck past Luongo's glove.
The rookie, who began his career with a goal on his first NHL shot, has scored twice in three games.
Suter jumped into the play to take a cross-crease power-play feed from Sullivan after the Canucks got their first shot on goal seven minutes 45 seconds after the opening faceoff.
Notes: Canuck Josh Green says he's going to wear a visor permanently after being struck by a puck the last time the two clubs met. . . . It was the second of a five-game road trip for the Predators who are in Edmonton on Wednesday night. . . . The Canucks visit Minnesota on Thursday and Colorado on Saturday. . . . Nashville's roster has 15 skaters who played all of their NHL games in a Predators' uniform.
