I would like to congratulate you on your Nov. 22 cover story on P.K. Subban for portraying a fair, unbiased account of a young man trying to make his way in the NHL by being a tough, fierce competitor.

Subban has become an unpopular character of late, receiving criticism for being disrespectful as a rookie, with veiled threats and warnings against him and comments of "he's getting what he deserves" when someone takes a run at him.

In a league where guys like Chris Pronger and Sean Avery are gainfully employed, with no one making public warnings against them, it sickens me that this is not being called what it is - racism.

People need to understand that racism does not just come in the form of calling people names, but systemic racism that makes people ignorant and complacent to what is happening right in front of them.

Subban should be lauded for having the courage and confidence to be what a defenseman is supposed to be - difficult to play against.
