ABBOTSFORD, B.C. - The Abbotsford Heat exploded for three second period goals and managed to hold off Worcester, edging out the Sharks 5-4 in American Hockey League action Friday night.

Colin Stuart's second goal of the night was the game-winner as he redirected Mark Mitera's point shot past Sharks' starter Alex Stalok.

Worcester (37-19-5) opened the scoring four minutes into the first when T.J. Trevelyan re-directed a Logan Couture shot past Heat starter Leland Irving on the power play.

Abbotsford (31-24-10) then took over with four unanswered goals.

David Van Der Gulik evened things up at one when he beat Stalok with harmless looking wrist shot from the face-off circle midway through the opening period.

It was all Abbotsford in the second period as Cam Cunning, Olivier Latendresse and Stuart all found the net.

North Vancouver, B.C., native Michael Wilson got the ball rolling for the Sharks in the third as Worcester scored three times and had a goal disallowed, putting the home side on its heels.

Brandon Mashinter and Logan Couture also scored on Irving in the final period.

However, Stuart managed to score his 14th of the season between Wilson and Mashinter's goals to seal the deal for Abbotsford.

Irving, making his first start with the Heat since a 7-1 loss at the hands of the Houston Aeros Jan. 22, made 29 saves for his 12th win of the season.

Stalock made 28 saves in a losing cause.
