Stalock makes 29 saves, Sharks extend Moose's losing streak to five games

WORCESTER, Mass. - Alex Stalock made 29 saves as the Worcester Sharks beat Manitoba 3-1 Wednesday, extending the Moose's American Hockey League losing streak to five games.

Brandon Mashinter, Benn Ferriero and Steven Zalewski scored for Worcester (28-14-3).

Nikita Kashirsky scored Manitoba's lone goal while Cory Schneider made 29 saves in a losing cause.

The Sharks opened the scoring at 17:05 of the first period. Mashinter picked a the loose puck and squeezed it between Schneider's pads for a 1-0 lead.

Worcester went up 2-0 1:45 into the second period when Ferriero stormed into the Moose zone and fired the puck over Schneider's blocker.

The Moose (23-20-5) finally beat Stalock 12:34 into the third period into the final period. Kashirsky scored his first Moose goal, putting puck through a crowd in front of the Worcester goal.

Manitoba pulled Schneider for an extra attacker, and two seconds remaining in regulation Zalewski put the game away with an empty-net goal.

The Moose and Sharks will face each other in a rematch on Friday night in Worcester.
