MONTREAL - A special stamp and a loonie will be part of celebrations for the Montreal Canadiens 100th anniversary season.

The NHL club unveiled a long list of events to be held over the next two NHL seasons leading up to the 100th anniversary of the team's founding on Dec. 4, 2009.

They include 10 million loonies to be released by the Royal Canadian Mint and an anniversary stamp by Canada Post.

It begins with the team's home opener on Oct. 15, when a Ring of Honour will be inaugerated at the Bell Centre paying tribute to the 44 players and 10 builders the team has sent to the Hockey Hall of Fame. The team's new giant scoreboard - it's five times bigger than its predecessor - is already in place.

There will also be 12 games over the next two seasons in which players will wear jerseys from their past, including a blue and white one from their first season in 1909-10 and a striped one from 1912-13.

Also to be released will be a video game, a documentary on DVD, a special set of 200 Upper Deck anniversary cards and even a Canadiens version of Monopoly.

It had already been announced that the Candiens will play host to the NHL all-star game on Jan. 25 and the draft June 26-27.

The Canadiens will also open a rink it built for the community to use in a city park.
