Shea Weber may not have toppled Zdeno Chara’s hardest shot record, but he came as close as anyone ever has. Watch as Weber unloads an incredible 108.5 MPH blast, much to the delight of the Columbus crowd.

Zdeno Chara may not be in Columbus for All-Star weekend, but he’s certainly going to be hearing about Shea Weber’s booming blast that nearly unseated his Hardest Shot Competition record.

Weber, the Nashville Predators blueliner who has put pucks through the net on more than one occasion and blasted holes in the boards with his booming slapshot, stepped up and fired an absolute laser during one of the night’s most famous events. Blink and you’ll miss it.

Chara’s 108.8 MPH blast – 175 KPH if the conversion helps you wrap your head around it better – is still the record, but the 0.3 MPH difference between the two cannons are almost negligible. Weber’s 108.5 MPH (174 KPH) blast is his best showing at the event, and we can’t wait to see if these two go head to head.

Whichever way you put it, you’d have to be crazy to step in front of and try to block either shot.
