SAN JOSE, Calif. - Mike Grier and Jeremy Roenick could be out of San Jose's lineup until the playoffs with injuries, possibly spurring trade talks for the NHL-leading Sharks before Wednesday's deadline.

The team revealed the extent of the key veterans' injuries only after scratching both forwards for Tuesday night's game against the Dallas Stars.

Grier, a right wing who excels at penalty-killing, underwent an unspecified arthroscopic procedure on his knee on Monday. He has 10 goals and 12 assists in 59 games this season while playing on San Jose's third line.

Roenick missed 28 games earlier this year after undergoing surgery on torn cartilage in his shoulder, only returning on Feb. 21. The 20-year veteran underwent an MRI exam on Monday, which revealed an injury that will keep him out for an extended period of time.

Roenick has three goals and seven assists - including the 700th of his career - in 33 games this season.

Goalie Evgeni Nabokov also missed his third straight game for the Sharks with an apparent bout of the flu.

Brian Boucher started in goal for San Jose, which also recalled young forwards Lukas Kaspar and Brad Staubitz from its AHL affiliate in Worcester, Mass.

Claude Lemieux also was scratched from the Sharks' lineup, but the team didn't say whether the 43-year-old forward was injured. Lemieux has one assist in 16 games in his comeback from a 5 1/2-year NHL absence.
