Mike Fisher will be out indefinitely after injuring his left knee during an innocent-looking hit in Wednesday night's 2-0 win over the New York Islanders, joining star centre Jason Spezza (knee, four to six weeks) on the sidelines.

"It's pretty sore and swollen today," Fisher told reporters Thursday. "It's an injury you can't control. A lot of these injuries look harmless but something goes out. I've just got to worry about getting back and having a good attitude.

"I've got to do my best at getting back as soon as possible. Hopefully, it's not too long."

Chris Kelly will replace Fisher on the top line between Daniel Alfredsson and Dany Heatley.

Fisher has eight goals and 15 assists in 37 games this season.

"When you lose Spezza and Fish, these are quality guys and they're hard to come by," said Senators head coach Bryan Murray. "Now everybody has to do their job. If mistakes are made, they're going to be magnified." Alfredsson said his team must rally around the losses.

"Everybody has to chip in a little bit more and just play a little bit smarter," said the Senators captain. "Obviously it's a lot tougher but I think we know if we play together as a team and don't make too many mistakes we have a good chance of winning any game."
