NY Islanders (4-9-2) at Ottawa (6-7-2) 7:30 p.m. EST
OTTAWA (Ticker) -- A meeting with the New York Islanders is
exactly what the Ottawa Senators need to get back on track.
The Senators look to avoid a third straight loss on Thursday
when they host the slumping Islanders.
After posting a 4-0-1 record over its previous five games,
Ottawa suffered a one-goal loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on
Friday before dropping its second consecutive game on Tuesday, a
4-0 blanking by the Montreal Canadiens.
The Senators should have no trouble bouncing back against New
York, which is 0-2-1 over its last three after forging
back-to-back victories. Ottawa is 10-1-1 in its last 12
contests with the Islanders and has scored at least four goals
in nine of those games. The Senators own a 36-11-1 record with
11 ties in the all-time series.
The Islanders' recent woes are due in large part to a struggling
offense, which ranks 24th in the NHL, averaging 2.53 goals per
game. New York has been outscored, 38-27, while posting a 2-7-2
record over its last 11 games.
