NEW YORK, N.Y. - Ottawa Senators forward Kyle Turris escaped punishment from the NHL following a hit to the head of Boston Bruins defenceman Joe Corvo.
NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan looked at the play from Saturday's game and decided it didn't warrant a fine or suspension.
"After reviewing the video extensively as we heard Turris' explanation of how the play developed, we concluded that the head was not targeted intentionally or even recklessly and that the circumstances surrounding the hit contributed significantly to the amount of head contact that resulted," Shanahan said Sunday in a statement.
That left Turris eligible to suit up for Sunday's game against the New York Islanders.
