After their disastrous start to the season, the Buffalo Sabres have fired GM Darcy Regier and coach Ron Rolston. Meanwhile, former NHLer Pat Lafontaine was brought in as president of hockey operations and Ted Nolan was named interim head coach.

Lafontaine's position is a new one created for him, while Nolan returns to head an NHL bench for the first time since 2007-08, when he was with the New York Islanders. Nolan also coached the Sabres from 1995-97, compiling a 73-72-19 regular season record.

No new GM has been named yet.

There will be more to come on this story today.

But what's your initial reaction to the news? Are these good moves by the Sabres?
