Rockstar Rask: Bruins goalie lights up the stage

We all knew Tuukka Rask was talented, but the perennial Vezina contender recently showed off some skills you may not have known he had: playing the drums. Look out, Neil Peart.

There are a lot of things you may not know about Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask. For instance, he’s got a habit of taking shootout losses poorly. He also served in the Finnish military. Also, did you know Rask has beaten every single team in the NHL at least once?

If you didn’t – and hey, even if you did – now you can watch him beat something that’s not your favorite NHL team: a drum set alongside Buffalo band the Mustn’ts.

Rask looks pretty laid back for a guy who has known to have a bit of a temper from time to time after tough losses.

The opportunity came during the Bruins recent road trip to Buffalo. According to The Buffalo News’ Ben Tsujimoto, while out with teammates the night before the game against the Sabres, Rask politely asked the band if he could get up and jam with them during their rendition of Phish’s “Back on the Train.”

It’s kind of fitting to see the 27-year-old perennial Vezina contender behind the drums, seeing as he once said if he wasn’t a professional hockey player, he would likely be a rockstar or off playing soccer somewhere.

Now that he’s had a taste of rock fame, Rask can back to doing what he does best: terrorizing shooters. After all, he’s got to make sure he increases his win total to at least two against every opponent.
