A rink has been spotted on top of a building in downtown Toronto’s Financial District. It could be the site of the next Molson Canadian #AnythingForHockey game, which will see several contest-winners get the chance to play on the incredible rink.Anyone who has grown up in Canada can tell you that there’s almost countless places they’ve thrown on a pair of skates and played hockey. There’s outdoor rinks at community centers, frozen-over ponds and lakes and even the lucky ones who’ve had a backyard rink to play on until they’re frozen solid. One place no one has played, though, is atop a building in downtown Toronto, but that’s about to change. Instagram user TripTime1965 posted a photo Monday of a rink on top of a building in Toronto’s Financial District, and it appears to be a full-size NHL rink complete with boards and a crisp, clean sheet of ice: BlogTO’s Amy Grief reported the rink is near the downtown Toronto intersection of York St., and Adelaide St. West. While there’s no certainty what the surface is there for, it sure looks familiar to any Canadian hockey fans who’ve caught recent commercials run by Molson Canadian. The beer company released an advertisement for their #AnythingForHockey campaign. Last season, the campaign saw a group of contest winners play in the mountains of British Columbia, but that this year’s competition would see the outdoor scrimmage taken “to new heights.” The commercial closes with a shot of a rink on the rooftop of a downtown building: Molson’s contest closed Dec. 10. The company hasn’t said when the game will be played and they haven’t said if this is the rink that will be used, but if it is — and, honestly, why else would there be a rink atop a building in downtown Toronto? — the game doesn’t look like one for those with a fear of heights. We’re envious of those who get to strap on their skates and test this rink out, and we’re sure footage of the game would be nothing short of breathtaking.
