Should Chicago triumph Tuesday, Detroit would get another shot
to end the winning streak when the teams clash at Wrigley Field
on New Year's Day.
Dustin Byfuglien scored two goals and added an assist in a 4-1
triumph over the Minnesota Wild on Sunday as Chicago set a team
record with its ninth straight victory.
Though an "Original Six" team, the Blackhawks had never won more
than eight straight, doing so in December 1971 and January 1981.
This run also has them tied with the San Jose Sharks for the
longest winning streak of the season.
The Red Wings - who beat Chicago, 5-4, in a shootout on December
6 - have lost two straight.
Detroit's Tomas Holmstrom has notched four goals and four
assists in his last seven contests.
