Rangers' Martin St-Louis creates first goal of Game 4 vs. Caps with perfect pass to Derick Brassard

Rangers star winger Martin St-Louis hadn't been producing much offense this post-season, but the highly-accomplished veteran set up the first goal of Game 4 against Washington Wednesday with a brilliant pass to teammate Derick Brassard.

New York Rangers winger Martin St-Louis is one of the NHL's most accomplished players, but like any star not producing in the playoffs, he was feeling the heat in the Blueshirts' second-round series against the Capitals. But he began to change that Wednesday with a crafty pass to Derick Brassard for the first goal of Game 4 in Washington.

St-Louis had just one assist in the previous three games against the Caps and two assists in eight post-season games entering Wednesday's action. However, after he took a pass from teammate Rick Nash near the Rangers' blueline approximately six minutes into the second period, St-Louis skated the puck into Washington's zone and made a perfect pass to Brassard, who roofed it past goalie Braden Holtby for his fifth goal of the post-season:

Brassard's goal gave the 39-year-old St-Louis his 45th career playoff assist and 86th post-season point in 97 games, and if the Rangers can extend the Caps series (which Washington led 2-1 prior to Game 4) to a Game 7 – or, more ideally, if the Blueshirts can win Game 4 and eliminate the Capitals in six games – he'll break the 100-playoff-game mark. Just another accomplishment in a career sure to be honored by the Hockey Hall of Fame.
