Providence Bruins outlast Manitoba Moose 3-2 in a shootout

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Martin St. Pierre and Mikko Lehtonen scored in the shootout to give the Providence Bruins a 3-2 win over the Manitoba Moose in American Hockey League action Friday.

Tuukka Rask made 28 saves in regulation and overtime for Providence (27-19-2-1) before stopping four of five shots in the shootout to record the win.

Manitoba's Cory Schneider made 33 saves in taking the loss.

Down 2-1 in the third, Manitoba (34-14-0-3) tied the game on a shorthanded goal from Guillaume Desbiens with four minutes to play.

After a scoreless first period, Manitoba opened the scoring on an Alexandre Bolduc power-play goal at 2:37 of the second.

Jeff Penner tied the game for Providence six minutes later, before Johnny Boychuk gave the Bruins a 2-1 lead at 8:41 of the third.

Mike Keane was the only Moose player to beat Rask in the shootout.

The Moose finished up 1-for-5 on the power play, while the Bruins went 0-for-3.
