Hockey Canada will name 15 players to its World Championship team Tuesday afternoon and there will be no shortage of star quality among the group if early returns are any indications.

According to sources, Martin St-Louis of the Tampa Bay Lightning has already accepted an invitation to play, as has Rick Nash of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Nash is in the process of having his tonsils removed, but is expected to be fully recovered in time for the event.

Brad Boyes of the St. Louis Blues, who scored 43 goals this past season, is also expected to be among the first 15 players.

Columbus goalie Pascal Leclaire has been confirmed and Hockey Canada was waiting for an answer on Cam Ward of the Carolina Hurricanes. He is expected to accept, as is Carolina teammate Eric Staal.

Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Ed Jovanovski has reportedly already accepted and Hockey Canada was confident of getting both Derek Roy and Jason Pominville of the Buffalo Sabres. Florida Panthers defenseman Jay Bouwmeester has accepted, as well.

Team management was still discussing the possibility Tuesday morning of adding Edmonton Oiler rookies Andrew Cogliano and Sam Gagner to the team and management was still waiting to get a final decision from Shane Doan, who captained the team to a gold medal last year.

As of Tuesday morning, Doan had still not accepted his invitation.
