They asked. Sidney Crosby answered – in surprising fashion, too. The Pittsburgh Penguins captain showed up at a house in Enfield, N.S., on Friday after seeing a sign asking him to autograph a jersey. According to NHL.com, the Pottie family placed a sign that read, “Sid please sign my jersey” on their front lawn three weeks ago after being told Crosby often drives around the area during the summer. The 29-year-old Conn Smythe Trophy winner, who turned 29 Sunday, is from Cole Harbour. The Halifax suburb of Halifax is located 26 miles south of Enfield. The story said the Darryl Pottie had the sign up for a week, when Crosby brought the Stanley Cup to the province, but removed it because he needed the plywood to help move a hot tub to the backyard from the garage. However, Crosby remembered where the house was and knocked on the door around noon. Darryl’s wife, Tricia, was hesitant to answer because she was wearing a bathing suit. But when she looked through a small window in the door and saw who it was, she had to let him in. "I opened it a little crack and I said, 'Hi.' And he said, 'Hi. I'm here to sign the jersey,'" Tricia told Cristina Ledra from NHL.com. Crosby said he was too busy to stop in when he first saw the sign, but it got his attention. Crosby chatted with Tricia and the couple’s daughter Madisyn for about 20 minutes before leaving. After Crosby was gone, Tricia sent Darryl an email at work with the subject line, "An old friend popped in." "There was a picture and I open it up," Darryl told Ledra. "Right away I recognize my daughter and I look beside her and it's like, 'That...that's Sidney Crosby. Wait...wait a second. That's in my house. He's in my house.' And I'm screaming at my work and people are looking at me like, 'What are you talking about?'"
