NEW YORK, N.Y. - Sidney Crosby's return to the action made a big impact on the NHL.

The Pittsburgh Penguins captain was named the league's first star of the week Monday after putting up nine points (2-7) in his first four games since January.

Crosby picked up where he left off prior to being sidelined with a concussion, scoring just over five minutes into his return against the Islanders on Nov. 21. He had four points in that game.

The Penguins star finished the week with a plus-7 rating and helped his team move atop the NHL standings by going 3-0-1.

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Cory Schneider was named second star of the week while St. Louis Blues goalie Brian Elliott was given the third star.

Schneider posted a 3-0-0 record with a 0.67 goals-against average, .978 save percentage and two shutouts.

Elliott extended his winning streak to six games and improved his season record to 10-1-0 by posting three consecutive victories with a 0.98 GAA, .963 save percentage and one shutout.

He was the only goaltender to keep Crosby off the scoresheet last week.
