The gifted right winger has been a focus of the hockey world for most of the summer due to some serious allegations. Find out what he had to say in his first public appearance, as the Hawks get ready for training camp.

Chicago Blackhawks superstar Patrick Kane has made his first media appearance since allegations of sexual assault were raised against the right winger this summer. Sitting next to team president and CEO John McDonough, GM Stan Bowman and coach Joel Quenneville, Kane fielded questions from reporters at the University of Notre Dame, where the Hawks are opening their training camp.

Kane was solemn in his appearance and very polite while taking questions, many of which he deflected with the phrase "I appreciate the question," and varied references as to why he couldn't answer the query because it was a legal matter.

Kane did apologize to the organization, his teammates and the fans for causing such a distraction on the heels of Chicago's latest Stanley Cup championship, but also defended himself.

"I am confident," Kane said, "that, when all the facts come out, I will be absolved of doing (anything) wrong."

McDonough also acknowledged the legal matter looming over Kane's head, then confirmed that the decorated scorer would indeed be in training camp with the squad.

Though Kane has yet to be charged with any crime, the seriousness of the allegations facing him in his hometown of Hamburg, just outside of Buffalo, has been the biggest story of the summer in the hockey world – which is saying a lot since Los Angeles Kings defenseman Slava Voynov is leaving the country after jail time.

Kane was also very thankful for the support he has received from McDonough, Bowman and Quenneville.

"They've always had my back," Kane said. "That's how we view ourselves, as a family."
