Panthers Spanish goal call will be the best thing you hear all season

There are goal calls, and then there is this. ESPN Deportes play-by-play man Arley Londono's call of Scottie Upshall's first goal of the season is the best goal call you'll hear all year.

Move over, Randy Moller. There’s a new goal call in town.

Moller, the Florida Panthers radio play-by-play man, is known for his boisterous, pop-culture laden goal calls. In his own way, he injected fun into the broadcasts and made each individual tally notable. That said, not even he could have touched this.

It took the Panthers first radio broadcast in Spanish to change hockey goal calls forever:

What a call by Arley Londono. Scottie Upshall has never scored a more entertaining goal in his life.

No, the Panthers aren’t getting rid of Moller or his calls. Simply they’ve just added three Spanish-language broadcasts of their home games this season. The first such game was last night, when ESPN Deportes broadcasted the Cats game against the visiting Arizona Coyotes on what was dubbed Hispanic Heritage Night at BB&T Center.

It’s unfortunate there will be only three of these broadcasts this season. If this is what Panthers fans can expect, it’s sure to be a treat when ESPN Deportes takes the booth again on Jan. 15.
